First responders were called to a two-alarm fire in the 1400 block of Hadwick Drive at around midnight that involved three separate units inside the apartment building.

Several people had to be rescued, though the fire was declared under control at around 1 a.m. on Oct. 11.

An electric strip on the first floor was determined to be the cause of the fire, which displaced 11 adults and seven children who are now working with the Red Cross to find temporary housing.

While battling the blaze, one firefighter suffered a minor injury and was taken to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation.
